Ash joined as one of a group of players from Wickham Market Youth. He made his debut in a 6-0 defeat to Ipswich Thistle in what would turn out to be the start of one of the toughest seasons in Playford history, eventually ending in relegation.
He was part of the squad that won the 2014 RM2 division title, making the left side of a three-pronged attack his own. He was awarded Rich Jones' first Manager's Player of the Season and producing his best form in front of goal, scoring seven. Two of those were scored against Chantry Phoenix, in one of Playford's greatest turnarounds. It had been an abject performance from the team and with less than ten minutes to go Playford were 4-3 down and facing their first defeat of the season. However, before the game was out Ash, who took over free-kick duties during the game, proceeded to curl in two twenty-yard free-kicks with pinpoint accuracy, leaving the 'keeper without a chance and winning the game.
Ash has played in every single position for the club and is one of the teams most reliable performers. He has become a mainstay in the side either as a forward or in more recent times in a central midfield role. His value to his team mates was recognised in 2015/2016 when he was voted Player's Player of the Season.
He has scored 34 goals in 158 games.
